Sperm whale dies with 100kg 'litter ball' in its stomach

A sperm whale that was found dead after stranding on a Scottish beach had a 100kg ‘litter ball’ in its stomach. Be it fishing nets, rope, bags or plastic cups, everything was there in the compacted mass. The carcass discovered on the Seilebost beach once again highlights the wider problem of marine pollution. Whale and dolphin stranding in Scotland has increased recently as the number stands 930 in 2018 itself.
