With 24,248 new coronavirus cases, India surpasses Russia to becomes 3rd most-affected country in world

India surpassed Russia as the third worst-hit country by COVID-19 after its case tally crossed 6.97 lakh on Monday, according to statistics aggregator Worldometer, with several states recording their highest single-day spike. The death toll rose by 425, to reach 19,693 in the country. India on Monday reported 24,248 new cases of COVID-19. Recoveries jumped to 4,24,432, including 15,350 patients declared cured in past 24 hours.
