World's biggest Amphibian newly-identified in museum specimens

According to the DNA from museum specimens, the world's biggest amphibian has been newly identified. Researchers suspect the South China giant Salamander which races up to 2m in length, is the largest amphibian alive today. It is critically endangered in the wild & scientists say renewed conservation efforts are needed if the animal is to be saved from extinction. The decline of numbers in the wild have been catastrophic.
