Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was known to his many followers as Mahatma, or "the great-souled one," for his peaceful philosophy of passive resistance. Gandhi was imprisoned several times during his quest for non-cooperation and undertook various hunger strikes to protest the injustice of India's poorest classes, among other injustices. He was known for his ascetic lifestyle–he often dressed only in a loincloth and shawl–and devout faith. The man was born on October 2, 1869.

The Battle of Gaugamela, also known as the Battle of Arbela, took place on October 1, 331 BCE, and was the final encounter between Alexander the Great of Macedon and King Darius III of Persia. After this conquest, Alexander was unquestionably crowned King of Asia. Gaugamela was a hamlet on the banks of the Bumodus River. The fight is supposed to have taken place at Tel Gomel, northern Iraq. Alexander ordered an advance against the Persian line with his soldiers in position, with his men marching obliquely to the right. As the Macedonians got closer to the enemy, Alexander started extending his right, hoping to lure the Persian cavalry in that way and create a gap between them and Darius' center.

Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India was an Indian statesman. He was the one who promoted the white revolution, a national campaign to increase the production and supply of milk. He spent about seven years of his life in the jail while struggling for the independence of India from the Britishers. He was known as the man of great competence and integrity. He was the man with one vision who led India towrds its progress. He was deeply influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and hence were his great follower. Both of them even share the same date of birth too i.e. October 2nd.

Throughout his life, White produced several poems and articles; a compilation of his writings was published in 1977. White's wife died the next year. The loss had crushed him. Potti Sri Ramulu, a major leader of the independent Andhra movement, began an indefinite fast on October 19, 1952, seeking a separate Andhra state from Madras for the Telugus. Potti Sri Ramulu took his last breath at the fasting camp on December 15. As word of his death spread, rioting erupted across the country's south. As a result of Potti Sri Ramulu's sacrifice, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru established the state of Andhra, which included eleven districts in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema, on October 1, 1953, with Kurnool serving as its capital city.
