4 new Judges join the Supreme Court, making its strength highest ever at 34

The SC appointed 4 new judges-Justices Krishna Murari, SR Bhat, V Ramasubramanian and Hrishikesh Roy; which makes its strength to 34, the highest-ever. Justices Ramasubramanian and Roy were heading Himachal Pradesh and Kerala High Courts respectively; Justices Bhat and Murari were heading the Rajasthan and Punjab Haryana High Courts respectively. In May, Ranjan Gogoi wrote to PM Modi to increase the number of judges.
