Ahead of polls, WhatsApp in India launches tip line to fight fake news

Spread of fake news via social media platforms in India is a major issue especially before the Lok Sabha elections in the country. Keeping in mind the cruciality of the time, WhatsApp has launched a tip line in India to submit rumors and doubtful messages. Facebook-owned WhatsApp on Tuesday said it has been working with an Indian startup called Proto which helps to distinguish texts as true, false, or misleading.
