BJP to appoint MP Om Birla as the new Lok Sabha Speaker as the Lok Sabha proceeds to day 2 of the budget session today. Om Birla will replace previous Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan who did not contest the elections this year. Birla, two-time MP from Rajasthan's Kota will be the speaker for 17th Lok Sabha. The Speaker is the conventional head of the Lower house who decides when a member can speak & how much time he gets.
