"Dangers we witnessed last week could have led the country into civil war": Sudan Army chief on coup

Sudan armed forces chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan defended the military's action to seize control while adding that the action was aimed at preventing civil war. “The dangers we witnessed last week could have led the country into civil war,” al-Burhan said. Burhan further added that the deposed Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok was being kept at the general’s house “for his own safety” and has now returned home.
