Deeper look at the Citizenship law and the Bill

The Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 seeks to grant citizenship to individuals who are Hindu, Christian, Jain, Parsi, Buddhist or Sikh and had entered the country before 31st December 2014. Illegal migrants of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura will not be granted citizenship. The earlier version of the CAB was passed by Lok Sabha on January 8, 2019. However, it lapsed with the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha this summer.
