Haryana threw up a hung assembly with BJP rising as the single largest party with 40 seats and fell short of 6 seats which are needed to form the next government. Haryana CM retained his Karnal seat by defeating his Congress rival with 45,188 votes. Debutant JJP led by Dushyant Chautala also emerged as the potential kingmaker in Haryana with 10 seats. BJP-ShivSena alliance retained its power in Maharashtra.
