Outraged over the forced landing of a Ryanair flight from Athens to Vilnius in Minsk for the arrest of a dissident journalist, the European Union leaders have cut air links with Belarus. This was after a Belarusian fighter jet threatened the commercial plane to land in Minsk for the arrest of wanted reporter Roman Protasevich, 26, and his girlfriend Sofia Sapega. US President Joe Biden welcomed the decision by the EU.
