In a historic event, fifteen Indian-origin MPs have been elected to the House of Commons on Friday out of the 1.5 million-strong Indian community. Out of the elected members, seven candidates are from Conservative and Labour parties each while one is from the Liberal Democrats. The election resulted in the highest number of MPs from the community since Dadabhai Naoroji was first elected from Finsbury Central in 1892.
