German Padma Shri awardee denied visa extension, Sushma intervenes

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has sought a report over the alleged denial of visa extension to a German Padma Shri awardee who has threatened to return her award. 61-year-old German national Friederike Irina Bruning, who was honored with Padma Shri for cow protection this year, earlier threatened to return her award as her visa extension application for further stay in India was rejected by the MEA.
