GST rates changed for 30 items, Cess on luxury cars hiked

Mid-sized and luxury cars as SUVs will cost more after the GST Council today decided to levy an additional 2 to 7 per cent cess on them but exempted small and hybrid cars from any hike. The council was headed by Arun Jaitley. The council also decided to reduce the tax rate on 30 goods including idly batter, custard powder, dried tamarind, Dhoop agarbatti, raincoats, rubber bands.
