Gujarat slashed fine amounts imposed under new MV Act: Rs 500 for no helmet, Rs 2000-3000 for no licence

Gujarat slashed the fine rates imposed under the new MV act. CM Vijay Rupani said his govt had reduced the fine amount, which was the maximum suggested, after detailed deliberations. Now, the fine for driving without a helmet is Rs 500; Rs 2000 without a licence for 2-wheelers & Rs 3000 for 4-wheelers. CM Rupani says that penalties fixed now are still up to 10 times of that charged before the new act came into force.
