Gujarat Speaker Rajendra Trivedi steps down ahead of swearing-in of new Cabinet

Rajendra Trivedi, the speaker of the Gujarat assembly, has stepped down from his post hours ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet. He has already submitted his resignation which is effective from today. The selection of Bhupendra Patel for the post of Gujarat CM by the top brass of BJP came as a shock to many. There were reports of some party members not being happy with the decision by the central leadership.
