Japan PM refers to Taiwan as a country, China lodges protest

China was irked after Japanese PM Yoshihide Sugar referred to Taiwan as a country in a parliament debate. “Such three countries have been imposing strong restrictions on privacy rights” to control the Covid outbreak, Suga said while referring to Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan. Irked by the statement, China launched a protest. "We ask Japan to make prompt clarification," Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.
