Justice SA Bobde sworn-in as the 47th Chief Justice of India

Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, who was part of the five-judge constitution bench hearing the longest-running Ayodhya land dispute case, sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of India by President Ram Nath Kovind. He will have a tenure of a little over 18 months before retiring on April 23, 2021. He succeeds Justice Ranjan Gogoi who demitted office on Nov 17. Justice Bobde, 63, was elevated as a Judge of the SC on April 12, 2013.
