Karnataka by-poll results 2019: Siddaramaiah resigns as the Leader of Opposition

Following a hard-hitting defeat for the Indian National Congress in the Karnataka by-polls, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress veteran Siddaramaiah has resigned as the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly. He sent his resignation letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. "We accept the people's mandate. As Leader of Opposition, I should hold up certain tenets of democracy," he said.
