Karnataka govt announces loan waiver for nearly 1 lakh farmers

On Saturday, the Karnataka Govt announced that it is going to waive Non-Performing Asset loans of nearly 1 lakh farmers, who are to give around Rs. 965 crores to commercial banks. The announcement has come 2 days after the govt directed the release of money for farm loan waiver in commercial banks in a single-go instead of 4 installments declared in the budget last year. The transfer is expected to happen by June end.
