Lotus a part of enhanced security features to identify fake passports: MEA

The MEA has said that printing Lotus on new passports is a part of enhanced security features to identify fake passports and involves using national symbols as well on rotation. M K Raghavan from the Congress alleged that this was further saffronisation of the govt establishment with the lotus being the election symbol of the BJP. Raveesh Kumar said they symbol is our national flower & introduced as a part of ICAO guidelines.
