Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has been re-elected as the president of Portugal at a time when the country was struggling with the coronavirus crisis. Marcelo got 61.6 percent of the vote out of the 98 percent of constituencies that were shown. Socialist Ana Gomes stood second with just 12.24 percent of the vote. Just 35.4 percent turnout was recorded with most of the elderlies abstaining from vote amid the Covid crisis.
