Om Birla elected as Lok Sabha speaker

The wait is over and the ruling-Bhartiya Janta Party's Om Birla has been elected as the speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha. The BJP leader won the post with maximum numbers of votes from the members of the house. His candidature has been backed by all the NDA allies as also by the YSR Congress Party, the Biju Janata Dal and all the key opposition parties, including Rahul Gandhi's Congress.
