Pedro Castillo appoints Oscar Maurtua as new foreign minister

Peruvian president Pedro Castillo has appointed career diplomat Oscar Maurtua as the country's new foreign minister. Maurtua's appointment comes after the resignation of a leftist professor from the post over controversial comments. Maurtua also held the position in the early 2000s as well in the regime of centrist President Alejandro Toledo. Castillo's Cabinet will face a confirmation vote before the end of this month.
