Pratima Bhoumik creates history by becoming first politician from Tripura to be inducted into Union cabinet

In a historic feat for the northeastern state of Tripura, Pratima Bhoumik was appointed as the new Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment yesterday. 52-year-old Bhoumik is the first politician from Tripura to be made a central minister. Popularly known as 'Pratima di', Bhoumik is a first-time MP. She was elected from the West Tripura constituency in the last general elections in 2019.
