Urdu humorist and writer Mujtaba Hussain have announced his decision to return the Padma Shri award to the government as a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens. More voices from the Indian film industry have backed the students against the act. Several actors like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Parineeti Chopra, Sidharth Malhotra have reacted on the protests.
