US orders US govt employees in Iraq to leave

Amid tensions, the US State Department has ordered its non-emergency government employees from Iraq to leave, as informed by the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on Wednesday. Referring to the embassy and the U.S. consulate in Erbil, the embassy said “normal visa services at both posts will be temporarily suspended. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in Iraq.”
