According to some reports, Yoshihide Suga may soon step down as the Prime Minister of Japan amid a significant dip in his approval ratings. Suga is unlikely to run in a ruling party leader race, that is scheduled to take place on September 29. Fumio Kishida, a former foreign minister, is among the front runners for the post of the PM. Kishida has criticised Suga's response to Covid while calling for a stimulus package.
