Australia’s 46-year wait for a French Open singles title ended with Ashleigh Barty beating Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-3 in the women’s final. Barty took only 70 minutes to claim her first Grand Slam title. The 23-year-old becomes the first Australian winner at Roland Garros since Margaret Court claimed the title in 1973. Barty will now rise to the 2nd position after Naomi Osaka in the latest rankings.
