Ben Stokes rejoins England team, father’s condition stable now

Ben Stokes returned to practice with his England teammates after his critically ill father’s condition improved, ahead of the first test against South Africa at Centurion. However, illness continues to hamper England’s practice, with batsman Ollie Pope being the latest one. Pope skipped the practice on Christmas Day apart from all-rounder Chris Woakes & spinner Jack Leach, two of the earlier victims of the illness.
