David Warner won the Australian cricketer of the year award by beating Steve Smith by just one vote in the very first session right after the ball-tampering ban which had bought their cricket career at a halt for a year. David Warner won his third ever Allan Border Medal with a total of 194 votes and Smith, former Test captain got 193 votes, Pat Cummins the fast bowler got 185 votes and stood third.
