Trent Woodhill, who is Steve Smith's formative coach and a former IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore coach, said that if Smith was 'Indian' his technique and mechanics and the strategy around his batting would just be accepted. Woodhill said that its all about scoring runs, in whichever way one wanted. Smith was the man of the series against England, smashing 774 runs across four matches played with three tons.
