Indonesia places bid for 2034 Olympics after closing Asian games

The 18th Asian games in Jakarta were concluded in heavy rain with a president of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah calling the games a success. The two-week event of 40 sports closed as the athletes marched at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium and the baton was passed to next time hosts China. Indonesia, after defying expectations to host such an event, has also placed a bid to host the 2034 Olympics.
