Karim Benzema scored his 6th goal in 4 matches as Real Madrid thrashed Alaves 3-0 for a fourth successive La Liga win which took the European champions to within 8 points of league leaders Barcelona. The victory sees Real on 42 points, cutting the gap on 2nd-placed Atletico Madrid to 2 points and moving within 8 points of Barcelona who they visit on Wednesday in a Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.
