Messi returns as Barcelona snatch lucky draw at Dortmund

Lionel Messi’s return from injury was a timid first appearance of the season as Barcelona narrowly escaped with a 0-0 draw at Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League opener. Messi, who had missed the start of the season with a calf injury, came off the bench in a match which Barcelona were lucky not to lose thanks to Dortmund captain Marco Reus’s missed spot-kick and several waste chances in the second half.
