Nadal loses ATP Finals opener to Zverev

Rafael Nadal suffered a shock defeat to defending champion Alexander Zverev in the ATP Finals opener. The Spanish top seed came into the tournament under an injury cloud and he looked well short of his best suffering a 6-2, 6-4 defeat. Nadal and Novak Djokovic are in contention to finish as the year-end number one. Incidentally Nadal has never won the season-ending tournament in his 8 prior appearances.
