Brisbane has been named as the host city for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. At an International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Tokyo on Wednesday, the Australian city and surrounding South-East Queensland area were accepted as the Games hosts. In a statement, IOC President Thomas Bach said, "Brisbane 2032 is the first prospective host to have been elected under the new flexible way of electing Olympic hosts."
