Wimbledon 2020 cancelled for 1st time since World War II

Wimbledon has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday. This is the first time since 1945, when there was no event due to World War II, that the oldest Grand Slam tennis tournament won't be played. The grand slam is scheduled to begin in London on June 29 but the next edition of the tournament will be played from June 28 to July 11, 2021. The tournament was first held in 1877.
