61% of trees transplanted by Mumbai metro in Aarey Colony have died: High Court Committee

A report by the HC-appointed inspection committee said that about 61% of the trees transplanted by MMRCL in Aarey Colony have died. The committee visited the sites where the trees were transplanted during the Phase 3 Metro work in Andheri. The MMRCL had uprooted 1500 trees & transplanted at 31 locations in the last few years. Environmental activists claim trees didn't survive as Metro authorities didn't take enough precautions.
