Facebook Messenger to get lighter, offer end to end encryption

Facebook Messenger is now planning to rebuild the user experience from the ground up. The first major change with the new Messenger app will be the repackaged smaller version which Facebook internally terms ‘LightSpeed’. The new app will be less than 30MB. Facebook also says it's working on bringing an end to end encryption and seamless cross-platform texting between Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
