Google CEO Sundar Pichai called for a company wide moment of silence for 8 minute and 46 second to "honour the memories of Black lives lost". Pichai chose the duration of 8 minute 46 seconds to mark a protest against the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis, who is said to have put him under the knee for the same duration of time. He also announced support for organisations working against racial injustice.
