Space travel can be devastating to the joints of astronauts, suggest scientists, after discovering early signs of cartilage breakdown in mice sent aboard a Russian spaceflight. The health effects of spaceflight on the musculoskeletal system have always been a subject of debate. Research says living in space leads to many changes in the human body, including the immune system, blood pressure and shape of a person's eyes.
