A campaign by the French government encouraged people to register to vote in the European Parliament elections ahead of the deadline. Twitter blocked the French government due to the govt's own anti-fake news law. France required online political campaigns to state who bought the adverts & how much they cost. GIS wanted to pay for sponsored tweets. But Twitter did not want to take the risk of breaking the new French law
