1 dead, 9 trapped under avalanche in Khardung La, Ladakh

Khardung La mountain pass at the height of 17,500 feet is one of the highest motorable roads in the world. According to the eyewitnesses, the SUV was struck by a giant avalanche this morning. The search operation is currently underway and one of the ten people trapped in snow has been reported dead. Rescue teams are trying to locate and rescue the 9 others as soon as possible.
