The longest SNCF rail strike, against President Emmanuel Macron's reform plan for the heavily indebted state operator, in 3 decades,in which workers deny to go on job for 37 days led to the loss of 790 mn euros ($920 mn) and 21 mn euros per strike day due to cancellations of tickets of 4.5 mn daily commuters. A plan which denies job-for-life is opposed but it is needed to cut cost and sustains in competition, Govt. said.
