Char Dham yatra suspended by Uttarakhand government amid surge in Covid cases

After facing huge criticism over the organisation of Kumbh Mela amid the Covid outbreak, the Uttarakhand government has suspended Char Dham Yatra this year as the second wave continues to overwhelm the country's health infrastructure. However, the priests of the four temples will be allowed to perform rituals and puja. The country recorded over 3,79,257 new covid cases this year, taking the caseload to 1,83,76,524.
