Five of Wyndham Grand Hotels have implemented an optional 'digital detox' by asking their guests to lock their phones up at 'phone free zones' like pools and restaurants for incentives such as VIP area treats and a chance to win 75,000 points for a five-night vacation. Their Charleston branch found that 87% of poolside guests chose their smartphones over being in the pool, implying the need for 'phone free zones'.
