Mumbai Airport breaks record of handling 980 flights in 24 hours
The busiest single-runway airport in the world, Mumbai International Airport has handled 980 flights in 24 hours and had broken its previous record of handling 974 flights in a day. Gatwick airport in the UK comes close second with handling 870 flights in a day. However, there is a difference of infrastructure, human elements and other things. Mumbai is served by only one airport while Gatwick has the support of five.
