A group of spectators was handcuffed and ejected from the Old Trafford ground during the first World Cup semifinal between India and New Zealand on Tuesday after carrying out a political protest. The fans were allegedly Sikh separatists who were wearing T-shirts and holding banners demanding the referendum on an independent homeland (Khalistan in India’s northern Punjab state) to be carved out of India.
