India lost 4% of its GDP due to distortions in power in 2016: World Bank

Distortions in the power sector in India is affecting Indian economy largely. As per World Bank report titled 'In the Dark: How much do power sector distortions cost South Asia?', India lost $86.1 billion which is equal to 4% of its GDP due to distortions in the power sector in 2016. The report also said that although India has achieved 100% village electrification in 2018. But 178 million Indians still remain unconnected.
